2017_SEM1 ARCH 1101 EXPERIMENT 3

WEEK1
Theory
 Salginatobel Bridge

I was first inspired by Salginatobel bridge in Switzerlan by Robert Maillart. The elegant feeling I got came from it's shape and material. Reinforced concrete can not be describe as a good-looking material but Maillart made it into slender shape on such a deep gulch.

The Skyscraper
The skyscraper was designed by Mies van der Rohe. It's shape and the use of repeating factors inspired me a lot. This building is intense but exactly in order. My design used this idea as a precedent.

WEEK 4 Textures
FINAL PROJECT

I combined some ideas of the sharp and elegant shape together, and the whole building's shape was developed from three triangular prisms, and the three prisms were based on the same axis, so the were like spinning on the invisible axis inside.

The Moving Elements
The glass door was a significant character of opening space.
The opposite glass doors gives a idea of tunnel, also a expression of bridge.

The louvers appeared plenty times in my design.
They can avoid too much solar radiation but still effective on ventilation.
The material is lightweight aluminium so their angle can be changed when need.
